William Edward Dorman was born August 23, 1929, to Adolph E. and Ruth Krause Dorman in Freeborn Township. He grew up in Albert Lea and attended Albert Lea schools. In April 1947, Bill was united in marriage to Irene M. Hargis in Albert Lea. He lived in Oregon for a number of years where he worked as a welder for a company that serviced cranes. Bill returned to Albert Lea in 1973 and purchased the Sportsmen's Tavern, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles, and Moose Lodges. Bill enjoyed gardening, animals of all kinds, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Survivors include his special friend, Mary Weigel of Albert Lea; children: Mike Julie Dorman of Albert Lea, Cheryl Todd Utpadel of Hollandale, and Mary Paul Allison of Blooming Prairie; grandchildren: Leigh Dorman, Angie Ruggles, Ryan Kristin Green, Nicole Layne Hable, Mike Gore, Kyle Utpadel, Kellen Utpadel, Tyler Allison, and Emily Allison; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers: JR Wanda Dorman, Bob Delores Dorman, and Dale Arlene Dorman; sister, Susie Bearden; sister-in-law, Betty Dorman, and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; brothers: Russell, Don, and Dick Dorman; and sister, Maxine Shoenecker. Memorials are preferred to the Humane Society.
