Wilford "Bill" Dean Quam was born on September 2, 1931 to Orin and Carmen Amundson Quam in Freeborn County. Bill grew up in Freeborn County and went to country school and to Lake Mills High School. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Martinson on May 7, 1952 at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Bill went to work for Wilson's as a young man, retiring after about 40 years. He was a member of Silver Lake Lutheran Church. Bill enjoyed woodworking, reading, camping, crossword puzzles, snowmobiling, fishing and enjoyed farming. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; children, Gary Gail Quam of Jerome, ID, Diane Paul Ladlie of Albert Lea and Pat Mike Ehrich of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Jennifer Tom Walker, Jeremy Shelli Quam, Stephanie Jim Myers, Andrew Heidi Ladlie, Travis Lisa Quam, Brandon Nicole Quam, Jill Tyson DeMeyer, Brian Ehrich and Kimberly Ehrich; great-grandchildren, Allison, Ashley and Adam Walker, Jordon, River and Morgan Quam, Gavin and Sophie Quam and Carmen Myers; sisters, Barb Bolinger, JoAnn Roger Fink and Mary Lynn Overson; sisters-in-law, Janiece Quam and Ginny Ackland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Merle Phyllis Martinson, Mary Ann Martinson, E. Gordon Hazel Martinson, Gloria Jim Kvale, and Jerry Barb Sveen; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Orin and Carmen Quam; daughter, Julie Quam; brothers, C. Paul Quam and Jerry Quam; father-in-law, Ingebrit Martinson, mother-in-law and step father-in-law, Gladys Martinson Sveen and Obert Sveen; brothers-in-law, Duane Wangen, Verne Bolinger and Orin Martinson; and nephew, Richard Bolinger.
