After a long complex health journey Vivian Carol Peterson passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones on February 3, 2025. She was 85. Funeral services will be held at Bayview Funeral Home, 1415 State Hwy 13, in Albert Lea MN on Saturday February 15, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Vivian was born on February 27, 1939 to Felix and Gladys (Erickson) Wendt in Mankato MN. She graduated from Mankato West High School in 1957. After highschool, she worked as a cashier at Kresge’s Dime Store. She later moved to Albert Lea where she worked as a playground/lunch attendant at Hawthorne school and as a cashier and cook at Cenex gas station.
Vivian’s most profound accomplishments were on the homefront. She took great pride in keeping an immaculate home and cooking nutritious gourmet meals for her family. Holiday meals were elaborate and included everyone’s individual favorite dish. She also loved crafting and bestowing her creations upon her loved ones. Vivian also loved going to her Wednesday night bible study group, with them being a great support for her. Her chief joy in her later years was spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She adored them all and cherished every moment of time spent with them.
Vivian will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Charles Peterson of 51 years; sons Scott Teig (Sue Foster), Matt Peterson; daughter Tammy (Matt) Solomonson; grandchildren Seth (Sabrena) Maberry, Lacy Teig, Brandy (Justin Johansen) Teig, Haley Peterson, Kari Brech, Derek Askildson, Daniel Teig; daughter-in-law Roxanne Tompt; great grandchildren, Malerie Maberry, Maylea Maberry, Kayli Maberry, Nixon Johansen, Holden Johansen, Ronan Johansen, Ivory Devenport, Eleyna Devenport, Brookelyn Brech, Kylee Mulder, Chole Askildson, Kelly Askildson, Joshua Askildson, Bekah Askildson, and Rachel Askildson; sisters Jean Paar, Kathy (Roger) Reb; brothers Calvin Wendt (Sherry Fries) and Fred Pongratz; sister-in-law Sandra Fredrickson; brother-in-law Dan Peterson; many nieces and nephews and best friend Sandy Roe.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents Felix Wendt and Gladys Pongratz; sister Marjorie Wendt; sister-in-law Barb Waalkens; grandsons Cody Teig and David Askildson.
A big thank you to St. Croix Hospice and St. Mary's Nasseff Tower 5b staff for treating my mother like a queen. She loved you all!
