Vivian L. Nelson was born June 9, 1908, to John C. and Gina Nelson Johnson in Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and was a lifelong resident of the area. On August 28, 1929, Vivian was united in marriage to Walter Nelson in Forest City, IA. She had been employed as a sales clerk for J. C. Penney, Plymouth Shoe Store, and Les Olson Shoes. Vivian has been a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1922. She sang in the choir and was a soloist for over 50 years, had been the Primary-Junior Sunday School Superintendent for 20 years, and gave numerous readings at church and many service organizations. Survivors include her daughter, Joanne and husband, James Johnson of Worthington; grandchildren, Kimberly and husband, Tony Jansen of Laveen, AZ, and Jeffrey and wife, Sharon Johnson of Worthington; great-grandchildren: Jasmine and husband, Jeriah Lansdowne of Tucson, AZ, and Jared, Micah, and Matthias Johnson of Worthington; and greart-great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jacie Lansdowne of Tucson, AZ. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; 2 sisters; and 4 brothers. Memorials are preferred to Calvary Baptist Church or the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
