Viola Lila Mickelson

Viola Lila Mickelson was born October 26, 1915, to John and Lillian Munson Loken at Silver Lake, IA. She graduated from Albert Lea High School. On September 28, 1939, Viola was united in marriage to Clifford Mickelson at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church Parsonage. The couple farmed in the Ellendale area before moving to Albert Lea. Viola was a member of First Lutheran Church and Mission Circle #8. She was a homemaker and volunteered for Meals on Wheel, the Naeve gift shop, and St. John's Lutheran Home. Viola loved gardening and had a small garden near the day care when she moved to Knutson Place. Many especially enjoyed her spring flowers. She also spent time doing hardaanger and gave many pieces as gifts. Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn and husband, Dennis Spain of Shorewood; grandson, Jeffrey Spain of St. Louis Park; sister-in-law, Ruth Loken of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews. Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford; brother, Clarence Loken; and her twin brother, Harold Loken.
