Vilma Lavon Johnson

Funeral services for Vilma Lavon Johnson, of Arlington, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.  Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate.  Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  
Vilma died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas she was 86 years old.  
Vilma was born September 16, 1926 to Melvin and Edelia (Kleven) Westrum in Glenville.  She grew up and attended school in Glenville graduating in 1944.  At the age of 19 Vilma was united in marriage to Vernon Johnson on April 14, 1946 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  The couple lived in Myrtle for several years and Vilma worked as a checker at a grocery store.  They later moved to Albert Lea where they were members at Zion Lutheran Church.  Vilma worked in production at Wilson’s for 10 years and enjoyed cutting hair in her retirement.  She spent time with her family and loved to paint.  In her younger years she enjoyed dancing and roller skating.  In 1980 Vilma and Vernon moved to Mission, Texas.  She was a loving wife and mother.  Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her children Valan (Vickie) Johnson, Darcy (Pamela) Johnson and Robin (William) Otterbine; grandchildren Melissa Smith, Matthew (Nicole) Johnson, Mollie (Jeff) Monson, Joseph Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Michael Johnson and Nicholas McCord; 8 great-grandchildren; sister Colleen Ingvaldson and many nieces and nephews.  
Vilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Orville and Loren Westrum and sister Eldreth Lang.
