Funeral services for Vernetta Scott, age 101, of Albert Lea will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Clarks Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Jamie Cameron will officiate. Interment will be at Clarks Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting the family. Vernetta died January 18, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea.
Vernetta Scott was born May 18, 1914 in Bath Township in Freeborn County, the daughter of Mark and Elva(Jensen) Lawson. She graduated from Albert Lea High School. She was a member of Clarks Grove Baptist Church, an active member of the Circle there, and a member of the Clarks Grove Heritage Society.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Scott of Dayton, Iowa, Melissa Anderson of rural Owatonna, and Leah Wayne of Geneva, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Vernetta was preceded in death by her sons DuLane Scott and William Scott, and daughter Carol Scott.
