Vern Lina Peterson was born December 29, 1916, to Harry and Jesse Penrod Towne in Albert Lea. She attended rural schools and worked as a housekeeper. On April 22, 1939, Vern was united in marriage to Donald E. Peterson in Glenville. The couple moved to Baudette where Vern was a cook at an area grade school. They moved back to Emmons in 1962. Vern worked at St. John's for 21 years and was an active member of Lunder Lutheran Church. She especially enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. Survivors include her son, Roger and his life friend, Ann of Palm Desert, CA; daughters, Linda and her husband, Merlin Hanson of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Donna and her husband, Ben Jacobozzi of St. Joseph, Michigan; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Lauretta Gavle of St. John's; and brothers, Wally Towne of Hartley, Iowa, and Earl and his wife, Dorothy Towne of Twin Lakes; Vern was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers, and 1 sister.
