Twyla Lurine Laite

Funeral services for Twyla L. Laite, age 95, of Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday April 20, 2015 at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Al Stoa will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Twyla died on Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Community.
Twyla Lurine Laite was born on July 12, 1919 in Albert Lea, the daughter of Oscar and Fleeta (Schue) Johnson. She grew up in the Hayward area and went to District 36 country school. On December 14, 1940 Twyla was married to Vernon Laite Sr. in Northwood. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, a church circle, and the Eagle’s. Twyla enjoyed flower gardening, dancing, sewing, and cooking. Her favorite pastimes include shopping and baking bread for her family every Saturday morning.
Survivors include her children Vernon (Judy) Laite Jr., Thomas (Nancy)Laite, Patricia Bergland and special friend Ron Mirranda, Gary Laite, and Dana (Scott) Meaney; grandchildren Jodie (Kevin) Pranke, Jackie (Kevin) Weigel, Christi Chirpich and special friend Jamie, Jessica (Brice) Mulholland, and Tyler Juveland; great-grandchildren Jamison Laite, Jackson and Justin Purdie, Paige Weigel, Robbie Weigel, and Ryan and Tara Chirpich, great-great-grandchildren Steven, Savanna, and Sidney Laite; sister Dorothy Adam; sisters-in-law Sarah (Kenny) Anderson; and nieces and nephews.
Twyla was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon, son-in-law Marvin Bergland, sister Helen Stensrud, a brother in infancy, and several brothers-in-law.
