Thomas Warren Sosebee

Funeral services for Thomas W. Sosebee, Sr. age 82, of Albert Lea will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Faith Baptist Church. The Rev. Dennis Seiler will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery with military honors accorded by the American Legion and VFW Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Tom died on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Society.
Tom was born June 20, 1932 in Blue Ridge (Pierceville), GA and had lived in Illinois prior to moving to Albert Lea in 2002. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior July 1948 at Mt. Liberty Baptist Church, Blue Ridge, GA, the highlight of his life with Jesus. He was ordained a Deacon in 1988 in Waukegan, IL. He attended Faith Baptist Church, Albert Lea, where he has faithfully served. Tom was a member of the Illinois and the Indiana Baptist Lay Renewal Teams and served on many church building teams. He was a man of honesty and integrity, his word was his bond, his greatest desire was that all would come to know the Lord Jesus Christ. His wit, friendliness and ready laughter were his charm. Tom was a southern gentleman.
Tom was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, having served in France. He attended special classes at Milwaukee School of Engineering. He volunteered with Hospice and Respite at Vista Medical Center and at Park Place Senior Center in Waukegan. He was a Crossroads Hospice and Senior Resources volunteer. Tom was known by his many friends as the man who could fix or repair anything, and had the necessary tools or materials. If you needed a helping hand, he was there. He was medically retired from Trailways, Inc. in 1986 after 18 years of service as a Tour Driver. Tom was formerly employed by the Secretary of State and Stauffer Chemical in Illinois.
Tom is survived by his wife Barbara (Orr) whom he married on June 12, 1953 in Lake Geneva, WI; sons Thomas W. Sosebee, Jr. of Albert Lea and Tracy W. (Pamela) Sosebee of Rossville, GA; daughter-in-love Sherry (Tim) Sosebee of Albert Lea; grandchildren Thomas Sosebee III (Natascha) and Troy Sosebee of Germany, Timothy Sosebee Jr., Jennifer (Vince) Sosebee Guerra of Rochester, Jessica Sosebee of Albert Lea, and Joshua Sosebee of Rossville, GA; great-grandchildren Jermaine, Ayleen, and Amy-Lee Sosebee of Contwig, Germany; sister Helen Martin of Ringgold GA; brother Robert (Barbara) Sosebee of Blue Ridge GA; nieces, nephews, and Goddaughter Elizabeth Bloomfield Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his son Timothy in 2008, father T. Albert Sosebee in 1966, and his mother Lillian Sosebee in 2001.
Memorials are suggested to the Faith Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 905 Fairlane Terrace, Albert Lea, MN 56007; or to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, 75507 240th St. Albert Lea, MN 56007. Mourn not too long that he is gone, but rejoice forever that he was and is now in the Lord’s presence for eternity.
