Sylvia Mae Foth was born August 26, 1923, to Lawrence W. and Naomi J. Loken Purrington in Windom, MN. She attended schools in Windom and graduated from Windom High School. On February 12, 1944, Sylvia was united in marriage to Rueben Foth in Windom. The couple moved to the Albert Lea area in 1967 and lived in Manchester from 1974 to 2003. Sylvia was a member of the Manchester Evangelical Lutheran Church. She loved baking breads and apple pies, quilting, and was an avid reader. Survivors include her husband, Rueben; daughters: Susan and husband, Roy Maricle of Des Moines, IA, Patricia and husband, Ralph Shoemake of Indianapolis, IN, and Karen and husband, Dale Arhart of Northwood, IA; grandchildren: Sandra and husband, Chris Bash of Des Moines, IA, Jon and wife, Kris Maricle of St. Joseph, MN, Jennifer and husband, Dennis Thompson of Springfield, MO, Amy and husband, Dan Scar of Des Moines, IA, Cindy Shoemake of Indianapolis, IN, Mark Shoemake of Cape Coral, FL, and Jeff Anderson of Albert Lea; 12 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Don Purrington of Seattle, WA, and John Purrington of Mankato, MN; Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
