Susan Marie Laite

Memorial services for Susan Marie Laite, age 60, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 at First Lutheran Church.  Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  
Susan died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester after a courageous battle with cancer.  
Susan Marie Laite was born June 30, 1954 in Albert Lea, the daughter of Warren and Ada (Ingamells) Manuel.  Susan graduated from Albert Lea High School.  After graduation she worked for the daycare in the bowling alley and at Trails Truck Stop.  On March 22, 1972 Susan was united in marriage to Russell Laite in Sioux Falls.  Susan worked in the kitchen at Halvorson School for 23 years; she retired in January of this year.  Her favorite part of working at Halvorson School was seeing the smiles on the children’s faces every day.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.  Susan enjoyed fishing, camping, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.  
Survivors include her husband Russell, children Josh (Amy) Laite and Julie (Dave) Stevens, stepsons Ken (Stacie) Laite and Russell Jr. (Gina) Laite, 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, siblings Steven (Carol) Manuel, David (Cynthia) Manuel and Debbie Peterson, special friend Robin Weber, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  
Susan was preceded in death by her parents.
