Susan Marie Haubenschild, 58, passed away peacefully at Benedictine Living Community in Owatonna, MN on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 after a 36 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 4-7 PM at Bayview and for an hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Graceland cemetery following the service. Pastor Don Malinsky will be officiating.
Susan was born on January 15, 1966, to John and Margaret (Greenwood) Lidke in Albert Lea, MN. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and worked at Josten’s for 19 years before retiring due to the progression of her disease. Susan was blessed with two children whom she loved dearly. She was a loving and gregarious woman who always had a kind word for those around her.
A well-known social butterfly, Sue happily spent much of her day driving her scooter around the community to chat with staff and fellow residents, often sharing a smile and a friendly tease. She loved participating in daily activities at Benedictine with her friends and never missed a Bingo game. If you happened to catch Sue in her room, you can bet Game Show Network was on the tv. She was a diehard Minnesota Twins fan. Sue also had a love of country music, Garth Brooks in particular stole her heart. With all that said, by far her greatest love was coffee. Anyone close to Sue knew there had better be two creams in that cup of coffee and keep them coming.
Sue cherished visits from her family and the time spent with her children reminiscing and teasing one another.
She is survived by her son Brandon Haubenschild (Jenny Haugen) of Ellendale, MN and daughter Rebecca Haubenschild (Ron Kalstabakken) of Dodge Center, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Lidke, as well as her Maternal and Paternal Grandparents.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the healthcare staff who supported and befriended Sue (Susie-Q) throughout the years. She considered each of you family. Your care and attention truly meant the world to her.
Your presence and support are enough. Any monies received will be donated in Sue's honor to a local animal rescue program.
