Memorial services for Shirley June Raatz, age 68, of Albert Lea will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church. Pastor Nathan Thompson will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Shirley died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at her home.
Shirley June Raatz was born on April 23, 1943 to Harvey and Clara (Fowler) Kent at Winnebago, MN. Shirley went to school in Winnebago, Delavan and Blue Earth. Shirley married LaVaine Raatz on June 4, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville, MN. To this union 4 sons were born. Shirley was a homemaker most of her adult life. She lived in Madelia from 1976 to 2007. After her husband passed away she moved to Albert Lea to be closer to 2 of her 4 sons. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, LeRoy (Dawn) Raatz of Truman, Charles Raatz and friend Gail Johnson of Fairmont, Dennis (Teresa) Raatz and Marvin (Suzy) Raatz both of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Autumn Ruff of Mankato, Brianna Raatz of Fairmont, Cody, Kaitlyn and Megan Raatz of Albert Lea; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (Bill) Town of Cass Lake; several nephews, great-nieces and nephews; special friend Lois Olsen of Albert Lea.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaVaine; grandson, Timothy; in-laws, Wilhelmina and George Raatz; and brother, Frederick Kent.
