Sharon Lynch (age 82) gratefully began her journey to join her handsome and beloved husband, Lowell Lynch, on October 17, 2024. Embraced by the Creator’s love, Sharon (known as Sherry by family and friends) was born on February 4, 1942 in Winnebago, Nebraska. She is a proud member of the Ho-Chunk Nation. Her Indian name is Wăh chō ge nē wing ga (She Who Goes First). She attended school in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and married Lowell Lynch on June 25, 1960. Sherry excelled at her career as a Surgical Instrument Technician. Her expertise was recruited for multiple new hospital setups including Naeve Hospital, V.A. Medical Center in Minneapolis and John Nassef Heart Hospital in St. Paul.
Sherry was an intelligent and strong matriarch for her family, providing a listening ear and good counsel. She also had an adventurous and restless spirit, needing time in nature, traveling to new places, and the challenge of creating beautiful works through gardening, quilting, painting and drawing. She had an outrageous sense of humor, which could be counted on during a raucous game of Farkle, or when providing a well-timed zinger unexpectedly and with huge impact.
Sherry was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed working with the church’s Quilting Club. She had a great love for all her coffee friends and enjoyed a good philosophical debate at the Albert Lea Socrates Cafe.
Sherry’s teachings will live on through her children, Loriene (Tim) Pearson, Jeanette Lynch (Tom Wakefield), Karen Lynch (Dodd Hayson), daughter-in-law, Jeri Jensen: as well as her 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Lynch; her parents, Lawrence and Alberta Armell; her son David Lynch; her granddaughter, Erin Wakefield; and her siblings: Ellen Stenseth, Wanda Shaefer, Mary Belik, and Lawrence Armell, Jr.
Sherry’s love and friendship will be missed by many. Special shout out to her dear friends Jean Aamodt, Elaine Mucha, Shirley Brua and Sandy Jacobson. Much love and gratitude to her nieces Tammy Holland and Suzann Lynch for their support and for spoiling her so extravagantly during her lifetime. Added thanks and appreciation to the Mayo Hospice nurses, especially Jenny, for their skills and compassion for Sharon and her family. A Celebration of Life for Sharon will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 1-2pm at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, MN. Interment will be follow at 2:30 pm at Hayward Cemetery.
