Scott E. Heavner

January 5, 1959 — October 26, 2023

Albert Lea

Scott Eugene Heavner passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the age of 64 years.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4th at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea.  A visitation will be held an hour before the service.  Pastor John Mitchem will be officiating.

Scott was born January 5, 1959 to Keith and Shirley (Pletcher) Heavner in Forest City, Iowa.  The family moved to Albert Lea where Scott attended school.  Growing up on Frank Hall Drive, Scott enjoyed fishing, camping, and hanging out with his friends.  Moving to Clarks Grove, when Scott was 15, gave him the opportunity to learn about farming.  He worked at Reynen Potato Warehouse and for Roger Sward.  Later while working for Richard Wood Products, Scott transferred to Statesboro, Georgia where he lived for the next 24 years.  He appreciated the warm weather and the backwoods of the south.  He liked to shock us all with stories of the alligators, wild boar, enormous snakes, and spiders that he survived.

Due to health issues, Scott returned to Albert Lea earlier this summer to live with his brother Brian and family.  He enjoyed reuniting with his old friends, teaching his niece and nephews a different side of life and learning from them how to use electronics.

Scott was a unique individual who lived by his own rules.  He owned almost nothing but shared everything he had.  He carried a picture of his grandma right up to the end.  He had a big heart and we were so blessed to have him in our lives.

Scott is survived by his mother, Shirley Heavner.  Brothers Mark, Brian (Connie) and Todd (Julie) Heavner.  Nieces and nephews Taylor, Braden and Alexi (Kaleb) Heavner, Heidi (Dana) and their children Alyssa, Kole and Brextyn Gilliam, Hayley, Brad (Lane) and Logyn Heavner.  Aunts and uncles, Clarence Heavner, Faye Tegland, Keith and Monica Pletcher, Dick and Marcia Formanek, Ron and LaRae Holland.  Many cousins and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his father Keith Heavner only one month ago.  His grandparents Kenneth and Becky Heavner and Bob and Lorraine Pletcher.  Aunts and uncles, Barbara Heavner, Virgil Tegland, Darold and Rosemae Pletcher.

Blessed be his memory!
