Funeral services for Sadie Vanderploeg, age 92, of Hollandale, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church in Hollandale, MN. Rev. Wendell Davelaar will officiate. Interment will be at Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Sadie Vanderploeg died on February 12, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea.
Sadie was born on September 30, 1927 to Sam and Hilda (Post) Tolsma. She grew up in Sibley, IA. On March 25, 1947, Sadie married Cornelius Vanderploeg at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. Sadie was a member at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church in Hollandale. Sadie enjoyed crocheting, reading, quilting, and making “goodies” for family and friends. She was a member of the Sunshine Circle, Helping Hands Ladies Aid, and Quilters Group. She also liked to provide ride services for friends, visit shut-ins, give golf cart rides, and help with church projects. Above all, Sadie loved to spend time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Sadie is survived by her children, Larry (Lois) Vanderploeg, and Marilyn (Rod) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Audrey (Dewey) Bille, Rachelle (Mark) Buwalda, Conley (Erin) Vanderploeg, Stacy (Eric) Schaver, Chad (Janeen) Slegh, Cory (Keri) Slegh, Carey (Peggy) Slegh, and Candace (T.J.) Buchholz; 25 great grandchildren; sisters, Gertrude Dykstra, and Mary Koldenhoven; and sister-in-law, Winnie Meelker.
Sadie was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius; parents; infant brother, Andrew Tolsma; sister, Bertha Groeneweg; son-in-law, Dean Slegh; and great granddaughter, Bailey Dee Slegh.
