Ruth Margaret Jacobson was born on January 4, 1913 in Lake Mills, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert and Margaret Ausen She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills and was confirmed at Lime Creek Lutheran Church in rural Emmons. She was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea. On October 10, 1932 Ruth was married to Helmer Rierson, and on November 30, 1946 she was married to Russell T. Jacobson in Albert Lea. Ruth worked at Naeve Hospital, retiring in 1977 after 23 years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in the Altar Guild, sewing group and church circle. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Senior Citizenâs Center. Ruth was very active at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.
Survivors include her children Richard (Janice) Rierson of Albert Lea, Sharon Hovey and Linda Queen of Albert Lea; grandchildren Dianna (Paul) Fox, Julie (Billy) Day, Michael (Kelly) Rierson, Joni Dokken, and Scott (Beverly) Hovey; great-grandchildren Nichole (Jerrad) Brown, Mayme (Dr. Michael) Zimmerman, Megan Dokken, Taylor, Brandon, Leah and Kira Rierson, Isabel and Melanie Fox; great-great-grandchildren Ashley Lehnertz, Madison Zimmerman, Michael Zimmerman, and Jaxon Brown.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Helmer Rierson and Russell Jacobson, son Gary Henry Rierson, brothers Irvin and Victor Ausen, and sisters Luella Grunhovd, Lillian Malmin, Gyda Hauge,and Vivian Witham.
