Royal Earl Cottrell

Private memorial services for Royal Earl Cottrell, age 82, of Glenville will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel.  Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. 

Earl died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Albert Lea Medical Center.

Royal Earl Cottrell was born on May 29, 1928 to Royal Earl and Mabel (Nelson) Cottrell in Albert Lea.  He grew up and attended school in Glenville.  On May 27, 1951 he was united in marriage to Inez James.  Earl farmed in rural Glenville and also worked at Wilson & Co./Farmstead.  Earl enjoyed buying and selling horses and attending horse sales.  He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Glenville Senior Citizen Center and enjoyed playing whist there.   In his younger days Earl enjoyed playing baseball, he was an avid Viking and Twins fan and enjoyed watching the games on television. 

Survivors include his wife, Inez; children, Jack (Cindy) Cottrell, Michael (Nancy) Cottrell and Patrick (Susan) Cottrell; grandchildren, Joshua Cottrell, Jessica Cottrell, Robert Cottrell, Marisa Cottrell, and Dylan Cottrell; great-grandchild, Adam Lee Cottrell; and sister, Leila (Joy) Hendrickson

Earl was preceded in death his parents; in-laws, George and Ovidia James; and sister-in-law, Dorothy (Ervin) Jensen.

Memorials preferred to the Glenville Senior Citizens Center or the donor’s choice.
