Funeral services for Ronald Dean Drescher, age 68, of rural Conger, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 115 Maple Street S., Conger. Rev. Daphne Hamborg will officiate. Interment will be at Conger Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Ron died peacefully at home on December 1, 2017, after a long courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family.
Ronald Dean Drescher was born April 20, 1949 in Albert Lea, the son of August and Hazel (Hanson) Drescher. He lived on the family farm his whole life. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church and remained a life-long member. Ron graduated from Alden-Conger High School in 1967. On May 24, 1977, he was united in marriage to Connie Jean Oster at the Little Brown Church. Ron loved the farm life, especially livestock, and attending county fairs. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Connie; sons, Tony (Carreen) Houfek, Steve (Laura) Houfek, Matthew Drescher, Adam (Shanna) Drescher; grandchildren, Nathan, Bradley, Andrew Houfek; Alliana, Megan, Emma Houfek; Brooklyn and Aubrey Drescher; great grandchildren, Mason, Griffin, Allison Houfek; sisters, Dolly Gillen, Judy (John) Schwab; many nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Hazel.
