Ron DeVries

Ron DeVries born December 18, 1966 of Hollandale, MN, passed away peacefully Saturday January 18, 2025, in his home. He was born in Sussex, New Jersey and later moved to Hayward Minnesota with his family. He attended Hollandale Christan School through eighth grade and then graduated from Albert Lea Senior High School in 1985. He then attended Austin Vo Tech and studied the trade of welding.

Ron was an avid member of the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church and served on the council for several years. Ron had a new personal relationship with Jesus in 2006. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, Four-Wheeling adventures, Hunting Deer and Pheasant and Fishing with family and friends. Ron married the love of his life on August 31, 2013. They shared 11 beautiful years together creating lasting memories.

He enjoyed attending Minnesota Wild games with family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them how to learn different trades. Most recently Ron taught his grandchildren how to build as they made bird houses, and they built a treehouse together in the yard. This is a memory that will last a lifetime in everyone’s hearts.

Ron held many jobs over the years including Lysne Construction, Truck driving as well as Himec and Hybrid Mechanical. In May of 2012 he began a new adventure, fulfilling his lifelong dream, and created RD Mechanical and became a business owner. Through his business, he traveled throughout the Midwest completing pipefitting and welding for agronomy centers.

Ron will be lovingly missed by his devoted wife Rose DeVries. Daughters Miranda Mullenbach, Amber Salguero-Mullenbach and Son-in-Law, Luis Salguero. Grandchildren Alfred, Michael and Peter Salguero-Mullenbach. Mother Sylvia DeVries. Mother-in-Law Ruth Freund. Favorite Sister Grace DeVries. Brothers Dirk (Susan) DeVries; Pete (Sherry Beckjorden) DeVries; Tunis (Jane) DeVries. Sister-in-Law Denice DeVries. Nieces and Nephews April, Derik and Hannah DeVries; Sara, Brad, and Audrey DeVries; Chrissy Holtberg and Laura Varner. And many Great Nieces and Nephews.

Ron is preceded in death by Father Theunis DeVries; Brother Bill DeVries; Sister-in-Law Cindy DeVries; Nephew Jacob Varner; Father-in-Law Raphael Freund.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, January 22nd at Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. Visitation will be at the Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea on Tuesday, January 21st from 4:00 – 7:00pm. There will be a viewing at the church one hour prior to the service. A reception will be held at Hormel Historic Home, 208 4th Ave NW, Austin, MN 55912, following the service.

The family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic Bone Marrow Transplant team who provided exceptional care for Ron during his treatment and hospital stays. The Mayo Clinic Hospice team for assisting Ron with fulfilling his wish of coming home in his final day. A special thanks to Amber Salguero-Mullenbach and Grace DeVries for helping with Ron’s care at home and granting his wishes to come home.
