Visitation for Roger E. Jahnke, age 75, of Alden will be 12 noon – 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. A private family funeral will be held at a later date officiated by Rev. Greg Ofsdahl with interment at Alden Cemetery.
Roger died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at his home.
Roger Eugene Jahnke was born May 29, 1941 in Albert Lea, the son of Albert and Marie (Jacobs) Jahnke. He grew up in rural Alden, was baptized and confirmed at Mansfield Lutheran Church, and graduated from Alden High School. After graduation, he briefly worked at Wilson’s where he started driving truck. He then went on to drive truck for Streaters for 43 years. Roger enlisted in the National Guard in 1964. On January 23, 1966, Roger was united in marriage to Shelia Tompkins in Mason City, Iowa. In addition to driving truck, Roger actively farmed his entire life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his wife, Sheila; daughter, Angela Brandt; son, Bradley (Michelle) Jahnke; grandchildren: Lexi Paige, Brooklyn, Anna, Camryn, Whitney, and Jordan; brothers, Jerry (Elaine) Jahnke and Dale (Suzie) Jahnke; and sister, Cheryl Mischke.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marie.
