Robert Allen Koch was born on February 18, 1949 to Donald and Lois Snell Koch in State Center, Iowa. He grew up in the rural Glenville area attending Gordonsville Elementary School. Bob graduated from Glenville High School in the Class of 1967. He received a diploma from Austin State Junior College and then a degree in Animal Science from the University of Minnesota. Bob was a Farm Manager for Harvestor in New Prague, MN for one year. He returned to Glenville and worked as a Federal Meat Inspector for Wilson and Co. before becoming a full time farmer with his dad. On August 31, 1985 he was united in marriage to Carla Marie Wiener at the Church of Christ in Austin where they were both immersed members. He enjoyed sports and played on the Austin church softball league and played basketball in the Glenville city league for many years. Bob loved children and he and Carla had opened their home to foster care and the foreign exchange program. He also enjoyed gardening, especially sweet corn, snow skiing, traveling with his family, and making and eating homemade ice cream. Survivors include his wife Carla M. Koch; father Donald A. Koch; foster son Quen Bena; foreign exchange daughter Flavia Bravo of Brazil; brother Ronald and his wife Becky Koch of Littleton, CO; father-in-law Joseph Wiener Elvira Ostrom of North St. Paul, MN; brothers-in-law Gerald and wife Bev Filas of Oakdale, MN, and David and wife Rene Filas of Middle River, MN; sister-in-law JoAnn and husband Ron Keller of Lindstrom, MN; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother Lois Koch; mother-in-law Gladys Klersy Wiener; brother-in-law Ronald Filas; sister-in-law, Sharon Brandt; and nephew Ricky Filas.
