Robert âBobâ Hacker
Memorial services for Robert âBobâ Hacker, age 83, of Albert Lea will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church. Rev. Elizabeth Endicott will officiate. Interment will be at a later date. Military honors will be accorded by local servicemenâs organizations. Visitation will be held from 4:00 â 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bob died Saturday, February 18, 2017.
Robert Hacker was born March 12, 1933 in Iowa, the son of Max and Mabel (Johnson) Hacker. He grew up and attended school in rural Emmons. After school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War. After his discharge, Bob was united in marriage to Mary Heather at Salem Lutheran Church in Albert Lea on October 16, 1955. He worked in the paint department at Queens until it closed. Bob then worked at Lou Rich. He was a member of the Eagles, VFW and Emmons Legion serving as commander. Bob liked going to the lake, fishing, hunting and gambling with his friends. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and the children at Lindaâs daycare.
Survivors include his children Kevin (Carol) Hacker and Linda (Gary) Christian; grandchildren Jedediah (Tearria) Hacker, Holly (John) Lindeen, Shaunna Durand, Rachel (Jeff) Wacek, Robert âBudâ (Brooke) Hacker, Meaghan (Juan) Cazares-Gonzalez and Ashley (Wade Peterson) Hacker; great-grandchildren Kyra Durand, Haley Durand, Zoey Durand, Dylan Durand, Shae Peterson, Grayson Peterson, Michaela Hacker, Skyler Hacker, Oliver Hacker, Heaven Hacker, Mercedes Springsteel, Devlin Springsteel, Aspyn Wacek, Tristan Wacek, Allissa Wacek, Cooper Lindeen, Charlotte Lindeen and Leiden Cazares-Gonzalez; siblings Max âRayâ (Marlys) Hacker, Edythe âEdieâ Thompson and Gordon âGordyâ (Jeanne) Hacker; in-laws Elsie Hacker, Betty Knutson, Jeanne (Craig) Muncaster, Pat Glackin, Jack (Karan) Heather, Phyllis Smith and Barb Heather and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; daughter, Ann Serrano; a grandson in infancy; special friend Ardel Wilhelm; brothers, Albert, Frank (Betty), Andy (Darlene) and Carl; sisters Myrtle (Morris) Spires and Maxine (Lester) Helland and in-laws Cecil Smith, Nordine Knutson, Dave Glackin, Nancy Jo Severtson, Richard Heather, Tommy Heather and Duane Thompson.
