Robert Diaz, age 57, passed away on July 12, 2024 in Rochester, Minnesota, from complications due to kidney disease. Although Robert was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea, he was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, on April 25, 1967. A memorial service will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home with visitation being held an hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Hillcrest cemetery following the service.
Robert enjoyed cooking, often times using his daughter and mom as guinea pigs for his new creations, which sometimes didn't turn out so well. Besides reading, Robert also enjoyed fishing, listening to music, watching Godzilla, horror movies, playing video games, riding his bike and sitting outside with his dog, and watching cars pass by. He also had great enjoyment and pride watching his daughter play high school soccer.
Robert worked at many different jobs, from making pizza at Pizza Hut, prepping chicken at Kentucky Fried Chicken, creating Whoppers at Burger King, and working at Farmstead. Robert began working with the developmentally disabled many years ago and continued this work until his health turned poor. He took great pride in his job.
Robert is proceeded in death by his mom Sharon, grandparents, and recently an uncle. He is survived by his daughter Alyson, brother Paul (Marissa) and their son Isaiah, several aunts and numerous cousins and his dog Chance.
