Robert L. Blowers, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2013, at the Mayo Health System Hospital in Austin, Minnesota. He was born on August 10, 1928, in Waterville Township in Le Sueur County, Minnesota, the son of Arthur and Adelaide (Waldron) Blowers. He met his wife, Ilene (Dahl) Blowers, a resident of Albert Lea. They were married on March 31, 1951 at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, where both he and his wife had been confirmed as Lutherans.
He formed a partnership with his brother-in-law, Ronald Siblerud, and teamed up as Bob & Ron Builders. With Bob as the real estate broker marketing homes and Ron leading the construction crews building homes, they developed Albert Lea subdivisions. These subdivisions included The Stables Area, Fairlane Terrace, Bunker Hill, Hammer Road Subdivisions and Shoreland Heights Subdivision, and others. Bob & Ron Builders constructed many homes in the 1950's through the early 1980's. After decades of land development, Bob & Ron Builders helped Albert Lea grow by creating a significant volume of new homes. Other projects included The Stables Supper Club, which featured premier dining and was also a dancing establishment in Albert Lea for decades. Many longtime residents of Albert Lea fondly remember The Stables Supper Club as a place where memories were made especially during the holidays and special occasions.
In his retirement, Bob and his wife delighted in being "snowbirds" during winter months in Harlingen, Texas. Bob was a devoted husband and family man throughout his life. He deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Additionally, he was a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Laura, Lillian, and Mildred, and by his brothers Stanley and Lloyd. He is survived by his wife Ilene, daughter Roxanne Mace (Thomas) of Whiting, Iowa, and son Brian (Debra) Blowers of Albert Lea, as well as seven grandchildren: Rachelle (Chris) Gilbertson of Farmington, MN; Kari (Max) Razdow of New York City, NY; Hillary Blowers of New York City, NY; Jared (Amy) Nelson of Elk Point, SD; Joshua (Jennifer) Nelson of Onawa, IA; Chad Mace of Whiting, IA; Kelly Mace of Whiting, IA and five great-grandchildren.
