Richard was born on August 26, 1940 to Clarence and Viola Meyer Mattick in Albert Lea. He was baptized and confirmed at Mansfield Lutheran Church. He attended country school near Mansfield and graduated from Kiester High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Joan Fink on June 11, 1961 at Concordia Bear Lake Lutheran Church. He was employed at Scotsman, Farmstead, and Almco, retiring in 2005. Richard was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and was active in Bible studies, dart ball league, and did volunteer work. He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, fishing, hiking in Minnesota State Parks, biking, reading and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Joan; three daughters Debra of Overland Park, KS, Nancy of Owatonna, and Becky Brad Hopke of Inver Grove Heights; grandchildren Curtis and Emily Hopke; his mother Viola Mattick of Good Samaritan, five brothers Theodore "Ted" Lou Ann of Kiester, LaMoyne Betty of Belle Plaine, Jerome Pam of North Branch, Larry Cyndy of Phoenix, AZ, and Neil Pam of Mankato; brothers-in-law Roger Jo Anne Fink, Dwayne Edna Fink, Wallace Sue Fink, Lane Lee; sister-in-law Marge Don Laugen; uncle Orlando Evangeline Meyer; aunts Velva Oothoudt and Mildred Meyer; and many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his father Clarence Mattick in 1987, sisters-in-law Helen Mattick and Delores Lee, and brother-in-law Steven Fink.
