Funeral services for Ralph Gahard Reindal will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. Rev. Greg Ofsdahl will officiate. Interment will be at Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 â 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ralph died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at St. Johnâs Lutheran Community.
Ralph Gahard Reindal was born August 2, 1924 in rural Alden to George and Selma T. (Overland) Reindal. He was baptized at Lunder Lutheran Church on August 24, 1924 and confirmed in 1938 at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Ralph grew up in rural Alden and attended Dist. 56 and Alden Schools. He then continued his education at the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture. On September 2, 1943 Ralph was united in marriage to Verneta Sauer at the First Lutheran Church Parsonage. Ralph farmed until 1967; he then worked as a mechanic for Sorensen Brothers and later delivered motorhomes for Winnebago making 13 trips to Alaska. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1954, the Conger Creamery Board, Faith Lutheran, Walters Church Council, Local 49 Operating Engineers Union and Redeemer Lutheran Church. Ralph had an exceptional sense of humor and enjoyed traveling, driving, fixing things and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include his children Rita (Robert) Usselman, Georgia (Dennis) Freidel, Charles (Julie) Reindal and Daniel (Susan) Reindal; grandchildren Jenny (David) Fuller, Robert (Leah) Usselman, Tammy (Gerry) Messier, Timothy Freidel, Teresa (Dean) Williams, Allison (Shawn) Morrison, Shanna (Michael) Lynch, Heath (Diana) Reindal and Tana (Jason) Christensen; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Leona Sauer, Betty Kalis, Ralph (Carole) Sauer, Barb (Wayne) Enderson and Clair (Lois) Sauer; and many nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; wife Verneta; granddaughter Joy Kathryn Reindal; brother Harlan (Jeanne) Reindal; sisters Valborg (Bill) Jensen and Ruth (Richard) Sorensen; and brothers-in-law Orville Sauer and Fran Kalis.
Ralphs family would like to thank the staff of St. Johnâs Lutheran Community and Mayo Clinic Health Systems Albert Lea Hospice for their exceptional care.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Alden Food Shelf, hospice, St. Johnâs Building Fund or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
