Funeral services for Ralph E. Boverhuis will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Tim Diehl and Rev. Michael Bentley will officiate. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Ralph Eugene Boverhuis of Appleton, WI, age 72, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2012 at home with his family, after a long battle with emphysema. Ralph was born January 29, 1940 in Platte, SD, and grew up in Hollandale, MN. Ralph married Patricia Dunson on September 3, 1983 in Sacramento, CA. He enjoyed cooking, playing golf, traveling, and spending time with his family. Ralph retired in 2005 as Senior Vice President from M.J. Electric, LLC of Iron Mountain, MI. The PCI Division of that company was his creation. Ralph believed in solving problems and he spent his life doing just that in his work and for his family. Survivors include his wife Patricia Boverhuis; his children, Ron and wife Roxanne Boverhuis of Glenwood, Iowa, Bonnie and husband Brian Kunkel of Coon Rapids, MN, Barbi and husband Kwandee Martinez of Greenbrae, CA; grandchildren, Lisa, Ron, Ryan, Jodi, Kylee, Dallas and Sam; great grandchildren, Brianna, Julianne, Emma, Shawna, Addison, Tyler, Jeremy, and Lydia; brothers and sisters, Harold (Jean) Boverhuis, Jen (Paul) Eekhoff, Grace (Dean) Bos, Terri Weeks and her daughter, Kim, Marlene Passow; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Reinder and Louise (DeBoer) Boverhuis; brothers, Howard and Bernard, and grandson, Shawn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Hollandale Christian School.
