Priscilla O. Fodness

Priscilla Ovedia Fodness was born August 2, 1925, to Oliver and Alice Bakken Loken in Winnebago County, Iowa. She lived in rural Freeborn County, growing up on a farm and enjoyed living in the area most of her life. On June 24, 1945, Priscilla was united in marriage to James Fodness at the Oakland Midway Lutheran Church. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church since its beginnings, teaching Sunday and Bible school, a circle member, Deaconess, calling on the sick, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Priscilla also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Naeve Hospital. She worked outside the home at times, but her main focus was her family. Priscilla was especially good with children, always taking time to play a game or help with school projects. She had creative ways to make everything special from personalized birthday cakes to warm towels after winter baths. Priscilla preserved great quantities of produce from her garden and was especially known for her special tomato soup and beet pickles. She was an avid reader, enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles, and was skilled at coloring photos. Priscilla had a wonderful sense of style, dressed smartly, and was beautiful. She married the love of her life and remained devoted to Jim until the very end. Survivors include her husband, James of Glenville; daughters: Linda and husband, John Lawler of Kokomo, IN, Vicki and husband, Jim Petersen of Mankato, Shari Fodness of Minneapolis, and Wendy Fodness of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Erin and husband, Jon-Eric Eliker of Kokomo, Sean Lawler and Megan Lawler, both of Indiana, and Renn Fodness of Albert Lea; sisters: Eldora and husband, Bob Tandberg of Golden Valley, Opal Schallock of Albert Lea, and Avis Lehman of Northwood; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Oliver Loken; sister, Betty and husband, Ellsworth Jahnke; brothers-in-law, Udene Slinde, Charles Lehman, Bill Schallock; and nephew, Greg Schallock.
