Phyllis Jean Blake

August 3, 1936 — February 11, 2015

Funeral services for Phyllis Jean Blake age 78, of Alden, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea.  Rev Tom Biatek will officiate.  Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2015 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com
Phyllis died peacefully Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at her home surrounded by her children.
Phyllis Jean Blake was born on August 3, 1936 in Nunda Township to Norman Garfield and Julia (Aanrud) Hagen.  Sis grew up in the Twin Lakes and Grass Lake Area and attended Twin Lakes Country School.  As a child Sis was a member of Lunder Lutheran and Round Prairie Lutheran Church.  After a brief marriage to Lamar Trytten she married the love of her life on August 5, 1960 to Richard Burton Blake in Mason City.  She was a member of the United Methodist church.  Sis worked part time at Blake’s Body Shop sanding and cleaning cars and cleaning the office.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, wine making, oil painting, cutting wood and producing syrup from box elder trees.  Most of all Sis enjoyed spending time outside on the farm and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  
Survivors include her daughters Vicki Blake, Kathy Blake-Baker and Cheryl Blake; sons Kevin Blake and special friend Deb Brewer and Jason Blake; daughter-in-law Katherine C. Blake; grandchildren Jennifer (Shawn) Jackson, Lisa Semple, Rachel Matson, Jeremy Blake, Jessica (Mike) Bakken, Tanya (Joel) Treptow, Travis (Jenny Fjermestad) Thompson, Troy (Mary) Thompson, Cheyenne Blake, Cody Blake, Kendra Blake, Kasey (Lance) Tufte, Justin (Beth) Blake and Samantha (Brandon) Yost; 25 great-grandchildren; brother Lloyd (Doris) Hagen; sisters Shawn Hagen and Dawn (Chad) Williams; sisters-in-law Kaye Hagen, Lola Blake, Rita Blake, Jean Hansen and Betty Johnson; many, many loving nieces and nephews; special cousin Margaret Schmitt and her special dog Sisko.  
Sis was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard; son Mark David Blake; grandson Tyler Aaron Blake; brothers Norman Hagen Jr., Myrvel Hagen, Nolan Hagen, Glennis Hagen in infancy and Robert Hagen in infancy; sister Norma Hagen in infancy; brothers-in-law Richard Hansen, Gordon Blake, Harold Blake and Ralph Johnson; and sister-in-law Pat Hagen.
