Oswald S. Evenson

February 17, 1919 — June 9, 2009

Oswald Sunde Evenson was born on February 17, 1919 in New Richland, the son of Oscar and Ella Sunde Evenson. Ozzie grew up in New Richland where he attended country school and received his GED from the New Richland High School after his military service. On September 11, 1942, Ozzie was united in marriage to Marjorie Jean Foels at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in New Richland. They have been married for 66 years. Ozzie entered the U. S. Army in 1942. He served in the Philippines and in Japan during WWII. Ozzie was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ozzie worked as a salesman for the Wilson Beemer Supply Company and as a Sales Manager for the Culligan Soft Water Company, retiring in 1981. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church for 62 years, where he had been a member of the church council and an usher. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Ozzie enjoyed being with his family, sports, politics, playing cards, word puzzles, and walking. Survivors include his wife Marjorie of Albert Lea, children Susan Williams of Minneapolis, Diane Kimber Page Evenson of Minneapolis, Julie Dale Erickson of Columbus MN, and Craig Margaret Evenson of Northfield; grandchildren Garret Alison Williams of Los Angeles, Theodore Erickson of Columbus, and Katrina Andrew Bundermann of Colorado Springs, CO; two great-grandchildren Lila Sophia and Vivian Sunde Williams, both of Los Angeles; sisters Helen Mork of Albert Lea, Lenore Bob Johnson of Shakopee, MN, and Lois Wasmoen of Albert Lea; sister-in-law Lola Mae Breilein of Grand Ledge, MI; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved. Ozzie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Stuart Dorothy Evenson, sister Margaret George Ellis and brothers-in law Alvin Mork, Dick Wasmoen, and Don Breilein.
