Oscar Raymond Landaas was born July 8, 1911, to Lars and Anna Langeland Landaas at Emmons. He lived in Freeborn County all his life and was baptized and confirmed at the Emmons Lutheran Church by Pastor Storslie. Oscar was in the United States Air Force during World War II from 1942 - 1946, serving in the States and the South Pacific. He was employed at Midway Motors for 32 years. In 1965, Oscar was united in marriage to Beulah Babbit and they made their home in Albert Lea. He was a life member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the DAV. Oscar was also a member of the Elks and the Twin Lakes Senior Citizens. He loved being up north at his cabin on Spider Lake at Nevis and also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. In 1979, he was united in marriage to Evangeline Bathen Hauert. Survivors include his wife, Evangeline; sisters, Lillian Hoyne and Dorothy Reyerson; brother, Alfred and wife, Mary Landaas; step children: Robert Brenda Hauert, Thomas Pam Hauert, Connie Irwin Smith, and Debra Dave Goebel; step grandchildren: Kathy Jim Hennick, Kimberly Backhaus, Kristie Pawel Tolpa, Bridgett Hauert, Ronald LaWanna Hauert, Pauline Barker, Trent Christie Hauert, Heather Hauert, Amie Goebel, Jeremy Rebbeca Goebel, and Christina Josh Oye; several step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beulah; brother, Lloyd Landaas; sisters, Martha Klukow and Myrtle Peterson; infant twin siblings, Oscar and Myrtle; and brothers-in-law, Maurice Reyerson, Lloyd Klukow, Selmer Petersen, and Alert Hoyne. Memorials are preferred to the American Legion or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Conger.
