Oscar Milton Johnson was born in Albert Lea Township to Charles and Sarah Westland Johnson on October 28, 1911. He attended school in Hayward. On June 7, 1936, Oscar married Sheila Knudson at Hayward Lutheran Church with the Rev. Andrew Nordaune officiating. He was engaged in farming in Freeborn County and was in the purebred hog business for 15 years. Oscar served on the Hayward Elevator Board, the township board, and the school board. In 1967, Oscar and Sheila moved to Deer River, MN, where he raised Hereford cattle. Oscar was a lover of livestock and took pride in keeping good quality cattle. In 1974, he retired and the couple moved to Albert Lea, where he lived the rest of his life. Oscar bowled in the A Bowling League for 30 years and was the last living bowler of all A League bowlers. Survivors include his wife; sons, LeMar Johnson of Exeland, WI, and Dean and wife, Sandy Johnson of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Terri and husband, Brett Hammer of Mounds View, MN, LeeAnn and husband, Steve O'Sell of Chaska, Brenda and husband, Jeff Donahe of Owatonna, Dustin and wife, Shelley Johnson of Duluth, and Penny and husband, Blane Hammer of Albert Lea; great-grandchildren: Nicole, Jacob, and Mitchell O'Sell, Tyler and Shelby Hammer, Dillon and Abby Donahe, Freja and Naomi Johnson, and Mason and Brock Hammer. Oscar was preceded in death by a son in infancy; his parents; and 2 sisters and a brother-in-law. Memorials preferred to the Zion Lutheran Church elevator fund. Blessed be his memory
