Norma E. Gavle

Norma Elaine "GG" Gavle was born on February 11, 1922 in Carrington, ND, the daughter of E.J. Ross and Leone Engle. She grew up and went to school in North Dakota, coming to this area when she was a young woman. On May 10, 1946 Norma was married to Lloyd B. Gavle in Mason City. They were later divorced. Norma worked at Woolworth’s and Wilsons during WWII. She worked at a restaurant named after her, “Granny G’s”, in Lake Mills, did home care, and various clerk and waitress jobs in this area. She also worked for St. John’s for many years. Norma was a leader for Girls Scouts and Brownies. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Audubon Society. She was an active member of First Baptist Church. Norma loved the Lord. She taught Sunday School and Bible School. Spending time with her family was the most important thing to Norma. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, playing cards and going on trips. Galena, Illinois was her favorite destination. Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her daughters Cynthia (Joe) Van Reese and Deborah Olson, grandchildren Terri (Kurt) Cheever, Brian (Michelle) Olson, Jill Van Reese, Christopher Olson, and Amy Olson and her fiancée Rob Redman; great-grandchildren Brittany, Aubrey, Luke, Matthew, Caleb, Sophi, Oliver, Ruby, Stephanie, and Blake.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents.
