Neva Lien

Funeral services for Neva Lien will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.  Rev. Joel Vano will officiate.  Private burial will be at a later date.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Neva died peacefully Thursday, October 18, 2012 at her daughter’s home in Charlottesville, VA.
Neva Ida Marchetta Lien was born December 21, 1926 to Martin and Elsie (Levad) Hovland in Worth County, IA.   She grew up in Worth County and attended school in Fertile, IA.   On October 26, 1946 Neva was united in marriage to Sanford Lien at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.  Neva enjoyed being a homemaker for many years. She was a longtime faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church.  Neva was also an active member of the Hannah Circle.  She enjoyed traveling with Sanford, baking, visiting family and friends and having lunches with church ladies.  
Survivors include her daughters Diane (Lanny) Butler of Charlottesville, VA, Debra (Arlin) Thompson of Sisseton, SD; grandchildren Elisabeth Butler of Roanoke, VA, Andrew Butler of Washington DC; and several nieces and nephews.
Neva was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sanford; sisters Gyda Peterson and Beulah Felland; brothers Marvin, Juner, Homer and Arlo Hovland.  
Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Hospice of Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, VA 22911 or an organization of donor’s choice.
