Myrtice R. Rusley

August 16, 1913 — October 23, 2004

Myrtice R. Brooks Rusley was born on August 16, 1913 in Mower County, the daughter of Riley and Cora Lott Brooks. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School. In September of 1937, Myrtice was married to J. Glenn Rusley in Iowa. The couple made their home in Albert Lea. Myrtice worked for Skinner's Department Store and the Albert Lea Police Department as a dispatcher. Following her husband's death in 1961, Myrtice moved to Colorado Springs where she was employed in the medical records department at Penrose Hospital. She also had worked in medical records at Naeve Hospital. From 1966 - 1980 Myrtice lived in San Diego, CA. She was employed there in medical records at Grossmont Hospital. Myrtice returned to Albert Lea in 1980. She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church. Myrtice enjoyed traveling and reading, as well as spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her children: Pendra Penny Nelsen of Albert Lea and her special friend Floyd Helland, Elaine and her husband David Long, Sr. of Albert Lea, Janet and her husband Richard Werner of Lake Mills, Donna and her husband Richard Rye Sr.of Albert Lea, daughter-in-law Phyllis Rusley of Rochester; grandchildren Jon Rusley of Rochester, David G. Long, Jr. of Albert Lea, Lisa and her husband Greg Koenecke of Delano, Matthew and his wife Erin Werner of Lake Mills, Michelle and her husband Chad Tweed of Waterloo, Richard Rye Jr. and his wife Lynda, and Luke and his wife Jill Rye all of Albert Lea; great-grandchildren Evan Long, Kayla Koenecke, Mitchell Koenecke, Joel Riley Koenecke, Tyler Tweed, Lauryn Tweed, Noah Werner, Brooke Rye, and Bailey Rye; sister-in-law Marlene Brooks Wulff and Brother-in-law Carl Below both of Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews. Myrtice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Robert Rusley, her son-in-law Paul E. Nelsen, four brothers and three sisters.
