Muriel O. Paulsen

August 26, 2005 — August 26, 2005

Muriel Olga Marie Paulsen was born November 1, 1914, to Emil and Agnes Straka Wolff near Glenville. She lived in Freeborn County all her life. Muriel was baptized in Park Rapids and confirmed in the Christian faith by Rev. Korsrud at the First Lutheran Church in Glenville, where she was a lifelong member. Muriel's faith was always foremost in her life. She attended school in Glenville, graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1932, and continued her education at Austin Normal Training in 1933. Muriel taught school in District #60. On October 5, 1937, she was united in marriage to Charley Paulsen by Rev. Korsrud at the First Lutheran Church. The couple farmed near Hayward, Clarks Grove, and Glenville before moving to their farm east of Myrtle. Muriel enjoyed sewing doll clothes and sewed hundreds of quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She was a member of the Rebecca Circle, Ladies Aide, and the Myrtle Birthday Club and taught Sunday school. Muriel had cooked at the Glenville High School for over 20 years. She was especially known for her chocolate chip cookies - the school still uses her recipe. Muriel liked to entertain and enjoyed baking and bird watching. Muriel and Charley were baseball fans, especially the "Twins." They loved to travel, first with Muriel's parents and then their children and later with the Senior Citizens. Survivors include her devoted and loving husband of nearly 68 years, Charley; son, Bruce and wife, Norma Paulsen of Glenville and daughter, Nancy and husband, Dave Harris of Hartland; grandchildren: Dawn John Malakowsky, Ryan Paulsen, Mallory Paulsen, Coleen Harris, and Matthew Lisa Harris; great-grandchildren: Christopher, Addison, and Gaven; sisters, Bea and husband, Helmer Moe and Audrey Mehus, all of Glenville; brother, Luverne Wolff of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Vernetta Paulsen of Geneva; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Muriel was preceded in death by her parents; and many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Muriel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. God bless her memory.
