Minnie C. Underdahl

February 25, 1918 — April 2, 2005

Minnie Constance Underdahl was born on February 25, 1918 to Cornelius and Martha Siem Underland in Milnor, ND. She was the second of six children. They came to Minnesota to a farm in Moscow Township in 1929. Minnie attended the Stoa School District 120. She was married to Kermit Underdahl in 1934. Kermit suffered a stroke at age 36 leaving him totally disabled. Minnie continued to farm the family farm until 1959 when she went to work for Lansing Corners Supper Club. She worked there for five years and then for the Holiday Inn in Austin for 17 years. In the late 1940's, Minnie was a correspondent for both the Austin Daily Herald and the Albert Lea Evening Tribune. She traveled to Norway with her brother and his wife in 1970. There they visited relatives and got to see the home area where her parents came from. She has also taken trips to California, Washington, Arizona and Branson. Minnie was an active member of Moscow Lutheran Church and WELCA, holding several offices there. She belonged to the Eagle's Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens in Albert Lea when she was able. She loved doing crafts and needlework. She had won several purple ribbons at the Freeborn County Fair. She was proud of her farm and took great pride in its appearance. Survivors include her son Curtis Shirley Underdahl of Austin, daughter Hazel Floyd Hansen of Albert Lea, son-in-law Howard Boverhuis of Clarks Grove; grandchildren Russ Terri Boverhuis, Dale Cheryl Boverhuis, Cindy Stan Nelson, Maribeth Shawn Walton, Shelly Bryan Edwards, Larry Kim Underdahl, Julie Richard Needham, Terry Sue Underdahl, Jody Gary Hogstad, James Underdahl, Darrin Stephanie Hansen, and Lynda Richard Rye, 32 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters Clara Chilson and Eunice Bergstrom; brother Ordell Ethel Underland, brothers-in-law Norman Bernice Underdahl, and Walter Elsie Stoa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents her husband Kermit in 1972, daughter Marian in 2002, a grandson in infancy, brothers Arthur Virginia Underland, Kenneth Sadie Underland; brothers-in-law Walter Chilson and Richard Bergstrom. Blessed be her memory.
