Mildred Mary Andrejewski

May 14, 1917 — December 22, 2008

Mildred Mary Andrejewski was born on May 14, 1917 to Lou and Rose Sedlacek in Iowa City, IA. She grew up in Iowa City and graduated from High School there. Mildred attended Iowa City College of Business. She worked in newspaper offices in Iowa City, Moorhead, and finally Albert Lea. Later, Mildred worked as the parish secretary part-time at St. Theodore's where she was a member. She also worked as a Driver's License Examiner for the State of Minnesota. In 1949 she married Richard Tidemann in Albert Lea, MN. Richard died in 1970. In 1988 Mildred was united in marriage to Paul Andrejewski. Mildred belonged to many organizations and held offices in the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW, Red Cross, Naeve Hospital Auxiliary, Chaplain Legion Auxiliary, American Legion Memorial Chairman, Membership Director Minnesota Legion, 1st District Legion Leadership School, 1st District Legion President, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Officer of Blood Mobile, Catholic Daughters of America, WCCW, and the Dept. of Americanism Chairman. Mildred received many state and national awards such as Outstanding Freeborn County Senior Citizen and represented Freeborn County at the Minnesota State Fair, WCCW Bishop Award, Award from ALMC, Sertoma Club "Service to Mankind" Award, and the National Legion Award for Best Americanism. Mildred also judged many oratorical contests, made numerous presentations on flag folding to many schools, wrote and typed State Legion Book of Prayers and made time to deliver Meals on Wheels. In her spare time, Mildred was an avid gardener, a sports fan, especially local sports, and enjoyed going to the fair. She believed that volunteering is what keeps organizations going and she definitely did her share. Survivors include her husband, Paul of Albert Lea; children, John Rita Tidemann of Mantorville, Tim Tidemann of Bloomington, Jerry Julie Tidemann of Detroit Lakes, and Mary Paul Erikson of Clarkston, MI; grandchildren, Marc Tidemann, Chad Tidemann, Amy Guyer, Jason Tidemann, Jacob Tidemann, Maverick Erikson, Travis Erikson, Meghan Erikson, Kendra Tidemann, Katlin Tidemann; step-grandchildren, Stacy Riles, Heather Kosmoski, Elisha Larson, and Israel Larson; great-grandchildren, Braydon Nelson, Thea Tidemann, Triston Tidemann, Chastity Larson, Tanner Larson, Spencer Larson Brody Riles, Chaden Riles, Drake Kosmoski, Chesska Kosmoski, Nika Kosmoski, Justis Kosmoski, and Tiaunna Larson; sister, Rita Devorsky; two nieces, a nephew and their families. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; and step-grandson, Andrew Larson. She really loved her community and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Memorials are preferred to St. Theodore's School
