Max Farrel Swenson was born on Sept. 11, 1929 in Caledonia, MN., the son of Silas and Agatha Gjedrem Swenson. He attended and graduated from Houston High School in 1947. After graduating, he worked at various jobs before entering the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, Max returned to Houston where he was united in marriage to Mary Sogla on April 2, 1955 in Houston, MN. The couple lived in Minneapolis for a time where he attended the school of Business in the accounting program. The couple moved to Albert Lea where they have lived for the past 48 years. Max worked in the accounting department at Wilson's retiring in 1978. He then worked with his son farming. Max enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, playing softball, camping and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Albert Lea VFW and American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Mary, Albert Lea, Children; Craig and wife Theresa, Caledonia, MN., Dave and wife Annie, Rochester, MN., and Barb and husband Mark Hubbard, Albert Lea, MN. Grandchildren; Mike and wife Molly Swenson, San Diego, CA., Mark Swenson and Alan Christensen both of San Diego, CA., currenting deployed in Irag Michele Thompson, Austin, MN., Curtis and Emily Swenson, Rochester, MN. Sisters, Peggy and husband John Huebner, Osakis, MN., Benny and husband Jim Krueger, Cottage Grove, MN, Myra Gaustad, Houston, MN., and Katherine and husband Roger Kulas, Winona, MN. Sister-in-law, Bette and husband Ollie Haefner, Mankato, MN. Brother, Don and wife Phyllis Sisson, Corvalis, Oregon. Nieces, nephews and cousins. Max was preceded in death by his parents.
