Maurine Frances Turvold was born on May 13, 1927 in Albert Lea, the daughter of Theodore and Oline Christine Elizabet Wangen Bell. She attended school at the Hammer School and the Northside School as well as the Albert Lea Junior High. On May 29, 1947, Maurine was united in marriage to Laverne Charles Turvold in California. She worked for a short time at the packinghouse in Albert Lea until her husband returned from military service. She then took on the job of being a full-time homemaker and mother to her children. Her first child Rita died in infancy. She and her husband raised their second and third children Terry and Sandy in Nickleville as well as taking care of a number of foster children. In 1974, three years after the birth of their third child, Jennifer they moved to Northern Minnesota where they bought a dairy farm. In 1984, Maurine's husband died. She returned to her hometown of Albert Lea in 1991, following the high school graduation of her youngest daughter. She was excited to be closer to her many family and friends that she had missed for 17 years. Survivors include her children Terry McKay, Jennifer Cheryl Yorek Turvold, and Sanferd Turvold; grandchildren Kathi Forrest Himebaugh, Sean McKay, Ronny McKay and fiance Kari Wobschall, Lonny Sarah McKay; great-grandchildren Benjamin and Isaac; sister Edith Meyer, brother Henry Bell, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Ruth Turvold and other sisters-in-law, special friend Donna Jinright, and foster daughter Barb James. Maurine was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Oline, her husband Laverne, her daughter Rita, sisters Gladys, Thelma, Beatrice, Gertrude, Olive, Anna, and Cecelia, and brothers Joe, Clifford, Theodore, and Kenneth. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
