Maurice Ellsworth Lysne passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on March 17, 2020
are the age of 88.
Maurice was born to Martin and Marvyle (Stokker) Lysne on August 30, 1931. He attended
Devereaux School and then he attended Albert Lea High School and participated in 4-H and
FFA and graduated in 1949. He went into a partnership with his father on the family farm. He
enjoyed the farming lifestyle.
He was united in marriage to Henrietta Waalkens on February 20, 1953. Their union was
blessed with five children.
Maurice was a lifelong member of Oakland Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon,
was on the church Council, and on the Cemetery Board for 21 years. He was also a member of
the Farm Bureau and on the Hayward Co-op Board of Directors for many years. In life he
enjoyed bowling, pheasant and deer hunting, fishing, reading, watching westerns, traveling and
spending time with family especially his grandkids and great grandchildren.
Maurice is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Marvyle Lysne, father and mother in
law, John and Lydia Waalkens Sisters: Doris Wayne, Alice Friedrich and Rachel Lysne. Sisters
and brothers in law: Marjorie (Palmer) Thompson, Edith (Johnny) Guritz, Rebecaa (Charles)
Medd, Sarah (Harold) Lunde. Sister in law: Sal Larson, brothers in law: Jerry Skaar and Roger
Johnson. Uncles Bennett (Benny) Lysne, Gus Stokker and other aunts and uncles.
Maurice is survived by his wife of 67 years, Henrietta Lysne. Children: Mark Lysne of Land O
Lakes FL, Violet (Wayne) Kearns of Bryon MN, Pam (Ron) Vokoun of Albert Lea MN, Darwin
(Barb) Lysne of Albert Lea MN and Angela (Gerry) Cecci of Wesley Chapel FL. Grandchildren:
Aaron Kearns, Jason (Tanya Hays) Kearns, Adam (Carrie) Kearns, Tami Vokoun, Theresa
Vokoun, Tim Vokoun, Amy (Dayton) Snyder, Dan Lysne, Dustin Goskeson and 12 great
grandchildren. Sisters: Grace Skaar and Ruby Armstrong, brother in law: Al Friedrich. Sisters
in law and brothers in law: Min (Paul) Westland, Kath (Mike) Heffron, Dawn (Tim) Horst, Lou
(Steph) Larson and sister in law: Helen Johnson and many nieces and nephews
A Celebration of life will be held in June 2020.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Lung Association or St. Croix Hospice.
