Maurice Larimore

Maurice Larimore was born August 5, 1914 to Samuel and Emma Beck Larimore in DeLyle, Saskatchewan, Canada. The family soon moved to Iowa and later settled in Fairmont, MN. In 1939 Maurice was united in marriage to Anne Jensen. Together they had one son, Roger. Maurice served his country during WWII between 1943 and 1945. Spending time in Guam and Iwo Jima. After the war, he and his brother Ken formed a small company, Larimore Bros., transferring creamery milk. In 1960 he was united in marriage to Carol Thompson. Together they had one daughter, Denise. Maurice also worked for Matson Truck lines of Albert Lea and Armour Trucking of Fairmont. Upon retirement from truck driving at the age of 62, he then went on to manage Rainbow Terrace Trailer Park and did so for 10 years until full retirement at age 72. Maurice stayed very active until later in his 95th year. He enjoyed buying and selling cars and was happiest while in a car lot. He loved to drive and had much regret when he was unable to do so the last months of his life. Maurice loved baseball and loved cheering on the Twins. He was also an avid pool player in his earlier years. Maurice had great wit and character and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his son, Roger Larimore of Yelm, WA; daughter, Denise Mark Longeneker of Minnesota Lake; special friend, Dorothy Johnson of Clarks Grove and her children, Bob, Linda, Tony and Karen; sister-in-law, Beryl; and many nieces and nephews. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Stella; brothers, Ernest, Merle, Kenneth and Orville Larimore. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Sheltering Arms in St. Lucas care Center for their wonderful care.
