Mary E. "Betty" Martinson

Funeral services for Mary E. “Betty” Martinson, age 89, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church.  Father Russell Scepaniak will officiate.  Interment will be at St. Theodore’s Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 Tuesday, October 27th at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  
Betty died Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the Lake Mills Care Center.  
Mary E. “Betty” Martinson was born November 5, 1925 in Albert Lea, the daughter of Frank and Gert (Carey) Lair.  Betty grew up in rural Emmons and graduated from Emmons High School in 1943.  On July 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to LeRoy Martinson.  She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Twin Lakes where she was active in the Altar Society.  Betty was also a member of the Emmons Legion Auxiliary.  Betty was a homemaker, owned and operated the Corner Store in Emmons, and worked for Larson Manufacturing in Lake Mills.
Survivors include her children Mary (Paul) Sorenson, Michael (Jane) Martinson, Danny (Becky) Martinson, Barbara Vermedahl, and Mark (Laurie) Martinson; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren;  sister Eileen Hengesteg; brothers Francis Lair and James (Verlis) Lair; brother-in-law Don Martinson; and many nieces and nephews.  
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband LeRoy; a great-grandchild, grandson-in-law John Larson, sister Margie Mackay, sister Maxine, brother Webster, and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
