Marvin Franklin Schmidt

November 13, 1933 — September 3, 2012

Marvin Franklin Schmidt was born on November 13, 1933 to William A. and Ella (Kuehl) Schmidt in Albert Lea.  He attended District #55 School and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1952.  Marvin was a member of Crossroads Evangelical Free Church and served the Lord as:  Trustee at Calvary Baptist, Usher at Calvary Baptist, Bus Pastor at Calvary Baptist, Bus Driver at Calvary Baptist and he served on the communion set committee at Crossroads Evangelical Church.  He also served on the board of Albert Lea Trades and Labor Credit Union for six years.  Marvin was employed at Eddie’s Cities Service, Universal Milking Equipment for 28 years and Four Seasons Coffee for 10 years.  Marvin was united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart and neighbor girl, Althea F. Hansen on May 22, 1955.  They enjoyed traveling together in their younger years.  Marvin enjoyed keeping busy and he could fix anything.  He enjoyed carpentry work, fixing up old tractors and vegetable gardening.  He appreciated old cars and enjoyed watching the NASCAR races on TV.  Marvin was a very considerate man; he would do anything for his children and friends.  He was a fine husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  Marvin will be missed greatly.  
Survivors include his wife, Althea; children, Todd (Robin) Schmidt, Marcy (Alan) Anderson, Brad (Angela) Schmidt and Paige (Lowell) Bangert; grandchildren, Eric and Sarah Schmidt, Brian and Amber Schmidt, Amil Anderson, Brienne and Cassie Bangert, Shawnee and Mark Schave and Dillon and Dan Schmidt; great grandchildren, Alyssa Schmidt, Katelyn Schmidt, and Lainey and Ean Schmidt; sister, Charlotte Nelson; sisters-in-law, Violet Hansen, Polly (Hud) Nelson and Ramona Peterson; and special nephews, Jerry, Jamie, Jason and Benjamin Schwemmler.  
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Ella Schmidt; brother, Donald Schmidt; sister, Lucille Schwemmler Ladwig; brothers-in-law, Bernard Schwemmler, Phil Nelson, Roger Hansen and Richard Peterson; sister-in-law Betty Anne Jensen.
