Marvin F. Mathwig
Funeral services for Marvin F. Mathwig, age 90, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Father Kurt Farrell will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by local servicemen’s organizations. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Lake Belt Cemetery in Ceylon, Minnesota.
Marvin died Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea.
Marvin F. Mathwig was born June 18, 1927 in Ceylon, Minnesota, the son of Harry and Anna (Schnell) Mathwig. He grew up in Dunnell, Minnesota. He attended country school graduated from high school in Sherburn, Minnesota. Marvin enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 and was honorably discharged in July of 1946. On December 17, 1988, he was united in marriage to Marion Springer at the Little Brown Church. He worked as an engineer/custodian for Austin Public Schools until his retirement. Marvin was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post #404 – Alden. He was a breeder, owner, and exhibitor of the National Sweepstakes Champions of dogs in St. Charles, Missouri.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Marian; and two nieces and two nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother.
