Marguerite Francis Knutson was born on August 20, 1915 in Angelina County, Texas, to Robert and Mary (Pounds) Gillikin, the youngest of 12 children.    She grew up in the community of Moffett, near Lufkin, Texas. She attended Redland School, from which she had many wonderful memories, especially of her volleyball team mates.  Marguerite graduated from Modern Beauty College in Houston, TX.  After marrying her beloved Archie, they moved to San Diego, California, where their daughter Mary was born.  Marguerite was a member of Round Prairie Lutheran Church, Good Sam Camper/Ranch Club and Northern Lights Rock Club.  She loved going to the cabin at Crooked Lake. She enjoyed fishing, usually catching the biggest one, and enjoyed playing Skip-Bo, usually winning.  Loving to travel, Archie and Marguerite joined annual RV caravans, fished in the Churchill River in Canada, tented to Fairbanks and snow birded in Texas and New Mexico.  Four-footed friends were always welcome in their home.  She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband Archie, daughter Mary, and many nieces and nephews in Texas and Oklahoma.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law James Baker, Robert Wade and wife Janie, David Sheaner, Andrew Jackson and wife Inez, Thomas O’quinn, Bruce Denman and wife Mary, Charles Joseph and wife Mildred; sisters and brothers-in-law, half sister Iva Burrows and husband Joel, Marian Ann Gillikin, Sarah Jane Modisette and husband Alvin, and Mary Ola Simms and husband Perry.
