Marlene Beverly Sorenson

Memorial services for Marlene B. Sorenson, age 79, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Janet White will officiate. Interment will be at East Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 28 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Marlene died on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Mayo Clinic Health System Albert Lea.
Marlene Beverly Sorenson was born on October 19, 1936 in Hayward, the daughter of Martin and Luella (Moen) Hatleli. She was baptized and confirmed at the East Freeborn Lutheran Church. Marlene grew up in the Hayward area and went to District #27, The Bell School, through the 8th grade. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1954. On September 30, 1956, Marlene was united in marriage to Gordon Sorenson at East Freeborn Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and was most proud of her work at Thorne Crest as an activities assistant, and for Grace Lutheran Church. Marlene was a member of Grace Lutheran. She enjoyed helping out at church, doing crafts, singing, watching sports, playing bingo and the horse shows at the fair. Other interests included traveling, camping, fishing, and her favorite pastime, playing 500.
Survivors include her husband Gordon; her daughter Kristy (Roger) Paul; sons Bradley (Laura) Sorenson, Thomas (Julie) Sorenson, and Lon Sorenson; grandchildren Chad (Tina) Sorenson, Brock (Mallory) Sorenson, Erica Sorenson, and Drew Sorenson; brother Duane (Eunice) Hatleli; sister-in-law Clarice Pence; and nieces and nephews.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Clayton (Shirley) Hatleli, her twin sister Marliss (Gordon) Sward, her parents-in-law Julius and Clara Sorenson; brothers-in-law Norris, Warren, Henry, and Stanley Sorenson; and sisters-in-law Jonette Johnson and Lila Ballard.
Memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church or the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice. Marlene loved her family and her Lord Jesus Christ.
