Marie Alders

Marie Alders was born on June 5, 1907 in Barnveld, Holland the daughter of Dick and Heintje VanEsveld Van Ravenhorst. She attended school in Holland and at the age of 12 years the family came to the United States, settling in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Marie was united in marriage to Jacob Alders on Dec. 16, 1925 in Rock Rapids. The couple moved to Hollandale shortly after their marriage. Marie was a member of the Hollandale Reformed Church where she was a member of the Dorcas Circle. In her younger years she enjoyed working in her garden, but her true enjoyment came from her Church, her family and her many friends. Survivors include her children, Henrietta and husband Donald Viktora, Albert Lea, Evelyn Hagen, Albert Lea, Paulette and husband Peter Lukanich, Atlanta, Georgia., and Arthur Alders, Clarks Grove. 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Sister, Jennie Lewerke, Mason City, IA., son-in-law, Donald and wife Betty Austinson and Henry Leutink. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jacob Alders, children, Aart, Pearl and Johanna. Daughter-in-law, Edona Alders, grandchild, Kimberly Hagen and great-great-grandchild, Roderick Gruver. 3 sisters and 8 brothers.
